Over the next few weeks, NIB will be suspending all face to face transactions, with the exception of cheque collection and contribution cheque payments by drop box. NIB is committed to keeping its staff and customers safe in the exercise of their essential duties.

Unemployment Benefit can be payable where an employed person is temporarily laid off because of the negative economic impacts of COVID-19.

The National Insurance Act & Regulations provides for the payment of Sickness Benefit when a worker is quarantined - i.e., when he is “required to abstain from work because he is under observation by reason of being a carrier, or his having been in contact with a case of an infectious disease” (B&A Reg. 31[2]).
